Maria Lebedeva
Tutor
Born in Leningrad. In 2004, graduated from the Vaganova Russian Ballet Academy, where she studied under T. G. Terekhova. Performed at the Mariinsky Theatre as a ballerina from 2004 to 2023, appearing in various roles in the following ballets: Swan Lake (Spanish Dance and Mazurka), La Bayadère (Hindu Dance), Romeo and Juliet (Folk Dance Duo, Maid), Don Quixote (Mercedes, Roma Dance), The Sleeping Beauty (Peasant Dance Solo, Duchess), Scheherazade (Odalisque, Zobeida), The Fountain of Bakhchisaray (Krakowiak, Second Wife), Raymonda (Panaderos, Mazurka, Hungarian Dance), and The Stone Flower (Roma Dance). Was also featured in the Krakowiak dance segment from A Life for the Tsar opera, along with a number of ballets by George Balanchine (Choleric in The Four Temperaments, quartet in Serenade, and soloist duo in La Valse) and by Leonid Yacobson (Puellae Gaditanae in Spartacus, Fire Witch and Matchmaker in Shurale, and Elzevira in The Bedbug).
Together with her troupe, toured the world’s top venues in New York (Metropolitan Opera), Washington (Kennedy Center), Tokyo (Bunka Kaikan), Paris (Théâtre des Champs-Elysées), London (Covent Garden), and Vienna (Vienna State Opera).
In 2021, graduated from the Pedagogical Faculty of the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory in St. Petersburg (D. V. Vishneva’s graduating class). Has been tutoring at the Leonid Yacobson Academic Ballet Theatre since 2023.
