The II Gold Collection Summer Ballet Festival
From 13 July to 20 August, St. Petersburg will host the second iteration of the new annual ballet festival, Gold Collection, organised by the Leonid Yacobson Academic Ballet Theatre. The troupe will present the best ballet classics, as well as impressive works of modern choreography, at several venues: Mariinsky, Alexandrinsky, and Bolshoi Drama Theatre.
This summer, the city’s residents and visitors get a new chance to immerse themselves in the world of classical academic dance. This is the Yacobson Theatre’s second time holding the Gold Collection Festival. The playbill promises this season’s premières, repertoire staples, and more obscure ballets.
The following shows will be performed at the Alexandrinsky Theatre during the festival: Brilliant Divertissement, Cheeky Chastushki, Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, and The Queen of Spades. In turn, theatre-goers at the Bolshoi Drama Theatre will get to see Swan Lake and The Nutcracker.
In August, when the city’s theatre scene is always a bit quieter, the Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre will become a major hub for ballet aficionados. Its dancers will appear at the Alexandrinsky Theatre in Swan Lake, Brilliant Divertissement, and Don Quixote. Meanwhile, the Mariinsky Theatre will host several showings of Swan Lake. The public will enjoy an excellent opportunity to rediscover ballet legends, see all-new shows, and bask in the luxurious interiors of the country’s best venues.
The Gold Collection festival is supported by Eldoradio station and St. Petersburg TV channel.
