The Nutcracker and Giselle Shown in Cannes

During the New Year's festivities, the Leonid Yacobson company went on a tour to Cannes. On December 31, January 1, and January 3, the French audience got a chance to see two ballets from the theatre's classical repertoire: The Nutcracker, with music by Pyotr Tchaikovsky and choreography by Vasili Vainonen, and Giselle, with music by Adolphe Adam and choreography by Jean Coralli, Jules Perrot, and Marius Petipa.

The dancers from the Leonid Yacobson Ballet Company had the honour of performing at the Palais des festivals et congres de Cannes, home of the legendary International Film Festival.

The theatre had been invited to tour France after a number of successful performances in the country last July. Back then, Yacobson Ballet Company had taken part in as many as two festivals, Danse en Place'S and Les Nuits de la Citadelle, in the cities of Montauban and Sisteron.

The summer tour had featured Anton Pimonov's one-act ballet In the Rhythm of Dreams, the Vestris and Sextet choreographic miniatures by Leonid Yacobson, and two ballet excerpts: the Venetian Carnival Grand Pas de deux from Satanella and Pas de deux from Corsair (choreography by Marius Petipa).
