On 12 and 13 November, the Leonid Yacobson Ballet will make its very first appearance at the National Theatre of Bahrain in Manama, the Kingdom's capital. The much-beloved Sleeping Beauty, choreographed by Marius Petipa and Jean-Guillaume Bart, will become part of the cultural cooperation between the Yacobson troupe and the Dance Open event agency, which has a long history of working together with the National Theatre in the island kingdom of Bahrain.
Andrian Fadeev, art director of the Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre, comments that this tour is completely extraordinary: because, for one, it will give the dancers a new chance to perform for the people of an Arab nation where they have never been before, despite the current forced isolation measures. 'We also find it very important that our shows will celebrate the 9th anniversary of the National Theatre of Bahrain, which was opened with the personal support of His Majesty the King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Dancing in such a beautiful, One Thousand and One Nights-like setting, will make this even more enjoyable for our performers.'
The upcoming visit from the St. Petersburg theatre has already sparked a keen interest among the Manama audience: the tickets for the 12 November show are completely sold out.
