This August, the Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre will follow its tradition to show its best classical productions at the legendary Mariinsky Theatre venue.
On 14 through 22 August, our troupe will be presenting the most iconic ballet in the world: The Swan Lake, with the score by Pyotr Tchaikovsky and choreography by Marius Petipa. The production was revived in 2015; it set and costumes were designed by the reputable stage artist Vyacheslav Okunev. The cast will include the best of the troupe's principals. On 20 August, we will perform Ludwig Minkus' Don Quixote in a one-of-a-kind interpretation by the Danish choreographer Johan Kobborg. A roller-coaster of a plot and a cast of spitfire characters are brought to life by expressive choreography and a gorgeous set design, courtesy of the distinguished theatre artist Jérôme Kaplan. We are entering a new season at Mariinsky for the seventh time. This is not only a tremendous honour and responsibility for the keepers of Yacobson's heritage, but also a sign that both the audience and the experts of the theatre world recognize our dancers' skill level and professional technique.
