From July 10 to July 15, the rehearsal halls of the Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre will host ballet workshops for choreographic college students from Seoul, Korea.
St. Petersburg has always been considered the cradle of the Russian ballet school, and the Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre has been upholding the traditions established by the modern generation's predecessors, from the very first days of its existence. So it is hardly a surprise that our theatre has spearheaded a completely new initiative and gladly opened its premises as a platform for international creative exchange. The young dancers from Korea will get a unique opportunity to hone the multifaceted ballet mastery under the guidance of experienced tutors. The character dance workshops will be held by Larisa Postizheva, coach at the Vaganova Russian Ballet Academy; the basics of classical ballet will be explained to the future Korean stars by our theatre's tutor Veronica Ivanova; and finally, the secrets of flawless duet dancing will be revealed by Vadim Desnitskiy, a veteran professor of the VRBA. If the first attempt at organizing an international exchange of this kind proves successful, we will have every reason to hope that the Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre will turn into permanent training grounds for creative youth that have dedicated their life to the art of choreography.
