The Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre Heads to Darmstadt

The dancers from the St. Petersburg State Academic Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre once again have the honour of contributing to The Russian Seasons, a major international project that is being hosted by Germany this year. The public coming to the Staatstheater Darmstadt will get to see one of our theatre's most successful productions, the Don Quixote ballet set to music by Ludwig Minkus.

The legendary ballet, re-imagined in a new light by the world-famous Danish danseur Johan Kobborg (for whom it was the first experience collaborating with the Yacobson Theatre), will be presented to German theatregoers on September 13 and 14. The show premièred with great success during the 2017–2018 theatre season and was timed to celebrate the 200th birth anniversary of the great choreographer Marius Petipa. It went on to become a major headliner in the world of ballet, receiving high acclaim from both Russian and European audiences. Furthermore, Don Quixote won prizes in seven nominations of the Golden Mask Theatre Award.
