From December 18 to 29, 2019, the Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre will be touring around Japan, as part of our usual festive tradition.
The largest cities of the Land of the Rising Sun — Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto — will see the world's most renowned productions that are considered the symbols of classical Russian ballet. The Japanese public, known for its appreciation of ballet, will enjoy the familiar St. Petersburg troupe's interpretation of The Swan Lake and The Sleeping Beauty, two masterpieces crafted by Petipa and Tchaikovsky. The tour will begin in Tokyo, where our ballet company will perform The Sleeping Beauty, staged by Jean-Guillaume Bart. Our dancers will treat the Japanese capital to six shows across five prestigious venues: Seitoku University Hall, Kanagawa Kenmin Hall, Kumagaya Sakuramate, Nerima Bunka Centre, and Orchard Hall. We will also perform in Osaka (Umeda Arts Theatre) and Kyoto (Kyoto Rohm Theatre). After returning home, the Yacobson Ballet will unveil a Christmas gift to the St. Petersburg theatre goers: two Don Quixote shows at the main venue of the Alexandrinsky Theatre, which will take place on January 6 and 7
