The Expert Panel of the Golden Soffit St. Petersburg Theatre Award has honoured the St. Petersburg State Academic Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre with a special prize, celebrating our achievements in the 2018-2019 season: For Preserving the Creative Heritage of Leonid Yacobson.
Musical theatre experts were highly appreciative of the Leonid Yacobson's Choreographic Miniatures programme, which was presented to the public on November 30, 2018 This precious jewel from our founder's creative treasury now shines in a completely new light, thanks to the contributions of the talented designers Tatiana Noginova (costumes) and Alyona Pikalova and Tatiana Vyushinskaya (set). During the 25th official Golden Soffit Award Ceremony on October 28, 2019, Andrian Fadeev, art director of the Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre and Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation, personally received our special prize. When discussing this momentous occasion, he commented, 'We are delighted to know that the work of the 20th century's greatest choreographer still lives on and remains highly interesting to today's public. During his lifetime, Leonid Yacobson did not receive the recognition he deserved. His colleagues were the only people who appreciated him. The most talented dancers adored and lauded him, considering it a great honour to work with him. Preserving his unique repertoire and breathing new life into it is a point of special pride for us. The recent tour to Vladivostok with Yacobson's miniatures, particularly the public's incredibly enthusiastic reception, has reaffirmed our approach. We are very grateful to the esteemed judges and members of the Expert Panel for recognising the the great ballet master's timeless art, and for thinking so highly of our work!'
